I have been teaching English for some time and I have been wondering what could I do to be a better teacher so I came up with these ideas.

- Learn your students' names

- Be overly prepared

- Always consider the students' need when preparing for each lesson

- Be prepared to make changes or scrap your lesson plan

- Find out what learners already know

- Be knowledgeable about grammar

- Be knowledgeable about learners' culture

- Don't assume that your class textbook has the language that your students need or want to learn

- Don't neglect useful vocabulary

-Don't neglect listening

-Language and culture are inseparable

- Don't leave students in the dark. your lesson must be clear

- Be enthusiastic. Don't do it just for the money

- Treat them as individuals

- Most lesson should be student-centered not teacher-centered

- Don't talk too slow. (how come they will understand real English?)

- Respect both slow and fast learners. Language learning is not about intelligence. The important thing to stress is that students are progressing
